Unlike many other lasers, AviClear ™is a laser that is suitable for all skin types including dark skin due to its breakthrough technology. Instead of targeting and adversely affecting the melanin found in darker skin, AviClear™ treats the source of the problem which is the sebaceous gland that causes and worsens acne breakouts.
“This unique wavelength (1726nm) is only absorbed by the sebaceous gland — the culprit of acne — not by pigment,” says Dr. David J. Goldberg, which is the reason why this laser won’t cause hyperpigmentation in patients with deeper skin tones. “In our FDA study and in real life, we treated and are treating the lightest and darkest of skin colors with equal benefits.”

AviClear™ is different
AviClear™ is a laser treatment that specifically targets the source of the oily substance in your skin (sebum). After treatment, you will produce less oil and your acne will get better and stay better.
In clinical studies, 91% of patients responded to treatment and 80% saw at least half of their acne clear.
Results continue to improve with time — even several months after the treatment sessions are finished.
AviClear ™is an FDA-approved laser that treats mild to severe acne by targeting the source of the oily substance on your skin without the use of topical or oral acne medications. This is a unique laser technology because of the wavelength it uses, which selectively targets the oil glands (sebaceous glands) in the skin.
This is the first FDA and Health Canada approved energy-based device set to replace Accutane® by providing an effective non-pharmacological treatment for mild, moderate, or severe acne.
AviClear™’s efficacy is similar to a full course of Accutane®, but without the baggage of the side effects of Accutane®. It is therefore, ideally suited for those acne patients who either have contraindications to Accutane®, in whom Accutane® was ineffective or who are unable to tolerate the side effects of Accutane® or are simply unwilling to have systemic side effects of Accutane®.
There is minimal downtime with AviClear™ treatments. Your skin may be slightly red and inflamed for one hour to two days after the treatment.
A flare up of acne may occur after your treatment.
This can be treated with topical treatments recommended by your doctor. This is temporary and will resolve.
You can resume your normal activities shortly after your session
What Results Can I Expect with AviClear™ Treatments?
You can expect a progressive improvement in your acne over the course of three treatments, one month apart.
The most severe side effects are rare and include birth defects, mental health problems and stomach issues.

The patient may feel a slight warming sensation as the laser works to target the oil glands.
There is no numbing (i.e. anesthetic) required as the laser is equipped with a special skin cooling technology to minimize discomfort.
For best results, we recommend a series of three treatments spaced approximately one month apart as optimal results are usually seen after the completion of the full series.
Mild symptoms such as inflammation and redness may occur.
Acne may flare for a few days after treatment. You may continue to use any prescription acne medications simultaneously. Although results are not guaranteed, 90% of patients reported being happy with the results in clinical studies.
In addition to reducing existing acne, clinical trials show that future breakout episodes are shorter, less intense, and more less frequent following the AviClear™ treatment.
In clinical studies, 91 percent of patients responded to treatment and 80 percent saw at least half of their acne clear.

As with any other laser or cosmetic treatments, since we cannot perform studies on pregnant or lactating women, we will not perform lasers on these patients.
