What is a chemical peel?
Peels are intended to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells, giving the face a smoother, more radiant appearance. They work to exfoliate top layers of cells and help clear up clogged pores, breakouts, dull skin, and dry skin.
What is involved in applying a peel?
Chemical Peels involve applying an acid solution to the skin in order to improve its overall appearance.
There are many different kinds of chemical peels. Light chemical peels are more superficial and typically use mild acids to gently exfoliate the outer layers of the skin.
Medium and deep peels take a few days for the skin to peel and have a longer recuperation time.
Chemical peels are usually in the form of glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid or TCA. They are used in different concentrations, or in combination depending on the indication and on the depth of the peel desired.
Chemical Peels play an important role in skin rejuvenation by improving the appearance of enlarged pores, sun damage, help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and improve the overall complexion of the skin.
What is the advantage of a chemical peel?
Peels help your skin and allow your skin-care products to work more effectively.
Within minutes after application, acids lift away dead cells and trigger a lovely chain reaction: As the topmost layer is shed, signals are sent to the living cells below to multiply and move up, to increase collagen production and to make more hyaluronic acid .This results in a younger looking skin. Your skin-care products will also perform better after a peel because there are no dead cells impeding their penetration.
What is a Jessner peel?
A Jessner peel is a well-known medium depth chemical peel which consists of three main ingredients: lactic acid (assists in the exfoliation of the skin), salicylic acid (aids in penetration), and resorcinol (assists in the treatment of acne). Jessner peels target hyperpigmentation due to sun damage, minimize fine lines, assist the treatment of melasma, and even out skin texture while minimizing pore size.
Used alone or in combination with other devices, this peel will make your skin glow and look healthy for a long time.

How long is the procedure?
The skin is cleansed with alcohol prior to the application of the peel.
The peel is applied and left on until the following day.
The procedure takes about 15 minutes; however, we like to combine the peel with a facial and other technologies to enhance the effects of the peel.
What to expect after a peel?
After the peel, your skin may continue to sting for 20 minutes or more. Your skin may be slightly red, swollen, and tight for the first 24 hours or so.
Who can benefit from a Peel?
Chemical peels can be performed on most skin types.
Jessner’s Peel can be used on most skin types to treat mild or even severe acne, sun damage, mild to moderate wrinkles, and discoloration. This technique is advantageous when compared to other chemical peels because it is also acceptable to use on the hands, neck, and upper chest.
How many sessions are required?
Depending on the peel, we recommend a series of 4-6 peels a year.
Lighter peels can be performed more often.
Your skin will love you for it!
