What is Starformer® Tightwave?

How does the treatment work?
During treatment the patient remains clothed and sits on a comfortable IntimaWave® chair with built-in applicators in the seat and back of the chair.
The magnetic applicators in the chair stimulate muscle contraction in the entire pelvic floor area, including the back muscles leading to increased muscle strength. The result is effective relief of uncontrolled urine flow.
What preparation is needed for this treatment?
No preparation is needed for this treatment. In fact the patient does not even need to get undressed for the treatment

The generated magnetic pulses harmlessly pass through the patient’s clothing, skin and bone, reaching otherwise inaccessible tissue. The therapy is non-invasive, painless and with no known side effects.
What is electromagnetic stimulation?
Using deep electromagnetic stimulation, the magnetic fields generated by this technology will cause the muscles to contract. The magnetic field is so powerful that it penetrates through clothes to reach deep into inaccessible muscle groups, such as the pelvic floor, gluteus muscles as well as other muscle groups. The contractions will increase the strength, endurance and definition in the treated muscle zone.

How does this help SUI/stress urinary incontinence?
During magnetic therapy, a focused, time-varying magnetic field penetrates into the perineum and activates the motor neurons of the pelvic floor muscles. The pelvic muscles contract and relax with each magnetic pulse, thereby strengthening the muscles. Magnetic stimulation of the muscles is conducted by an electromagnetic coil built into the seat and controlled by an external unit.
The stimulus intensity is gradually increased up to the limit of tolerability as indicated by the patient.
The goal of the therapy is the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor musculature to reduce urinary incontinence. FMS or functional magnetic stimulation also has a positive effect on sexual dysfunction, fecal incontinence as well as chronic low back pain.
How does the procedure work?
The patient sits comfortably on the chair and does not remove his/her clothes.
Over a 20–30-minute period, the equivalent of 1100 Kegels and 3200 sit-ups (54000 contractions) are performed on the patient by the machine delivering electromagnetic energy to the targeted muscle groups.
How do the results compare with laser?
This procedure works in a synergistic manner with the Fotona® laser to strengthen the pelvic floor and help improve urinary incontinence.
Where the Fotona® laser will result in improved strengthening of the connective tissue inside the vaginal wall and increase the thickness of the mucosa, the Intimawave® will target the pelvic floor muscles.
The two together will help strengthen the organs in the pelvic floor as well as the pelvic floor resulting in enhanced and prolonged improvement in different types of stress incontinence.
How soon does the patient feel an improvement in symptoms?
An improvement of the symptoms is normally seen after 5-6 treatments.

How long do the results last?
